Jelly Roll Quilt in an Afternoon

Quilt in an Afternoon! One of the nurses that I work with wanted to brighten up one of the Exam Rooms at our clinic and was inspired to piece this Jelly Roll quilt in an afternoon.  It was a simple project but the bright cheery fabric has gotten the attention of all our patients. It sparks conversations of long ago memories from their past of quilting bees, projects that their mothers use to work on, and that  comforting fond sense of the past.  I love how each person who comes into that room, with a different memory from long ago, that is sparked by this simple little quilt.  Our patients range from 55 to 105 and they all have things to share about their full and interesting lives.

I Picked a Paisley Pattern for the body of this quilt and used a bright yellow thread to compliment the fabric.  The quilting holds the layers together and adds to the cheery colors that brighten our exam room at the clinic.

Because the  Statler Stitcher Long Arm machine has a long throat, 24 inches, I was able to get this quilt done in a quick evening and back to work to brighten up the exam room.
